Community Organizing = A more beautiful world
“Creating music for “resilient heart and resonant bodies” is not just the music itself - it's also how the music gets made. It's the context from which it's born. it is a whole-bodied attempt to forge economies that are just. it’s a commitment to love this life-supporting Earth. Together we are creating the conditions for life to thrive.
I'm a low-carbon touring musician. That means I drive an EV, or take trains and buses to shows as I am able. It means I am committed to embracing a slow tour life style. I book shows in small towns close together—not big city hoping. That's what I can do as an individual. It's not a lot, but it's a meditation on what we need to do collectively.
That's why I'm also a community organizer—I believe in the innate power of a small group of people working together to build the world we want. I have seen how through cooperativism, in life and in business, local communities can regain their autonomy and have self determination. We need to build individuals, leaders, organizations and ultimately a culture that fights for everyones basic, inalienable rights—to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Fighting for those rights is the work of the people - it's collective and expansive. I'm here for the journey. Here are a few of the organizing projects I'm involved with that give me joy!"
